Oak Suffolk Doors
Our Suffolk internal doors are a plank-style oak door: clean vertical boards that show off the oak grain and bring natural warmth to a room. It is a simple, honest design that suits a country cottage and a modern home alike, which is why the Suffolk settles into period and contemporary interiors in equal measure. The range runs from solid oak through to oak veneer over a solid core, in unfinished, prefinished and glazed options as well as FD30 fire doors, so there is a Suffolk door to suit most rooms.
What is a Suffolk door?
A Suffolk door is a plank, or boarded, door, with vertical boards running the height of the door rather than the framed rectangular panels of a Victorian or shaker door. It is one of the oldest and simplest door styles, and the Mexicano is its modern form, carrying the same vertical lines as crisp, machined grooves. Traditional framed Suffolk or contemporary Mexicano plank, the look is unmistakably clean and uncluttered.
Solid Oak Suffolk Doors
For solid oak throughout, our framed and ledged Suffolk doors are built from prime grade oak, with a V-grooved plank face set into a mortice-and-tenon frame and ledges on the reverse. They come solid or half-glazed, and the wide frame takes a mortice latch and lever handle.
Oak Veneer and Glazed Suffolk Doors
The wider Suffolk range is faced with American white oak veneer over a solid core, keeping the same plank look in a lighter, more stable door. There are unfinished and prefinished doors, glazed versions that borrow light between rooms, and FD30 fire doors where a rating is needed.
Finishing your Suffolk oak door
Unfinished doors should be sealed before use, while prefinished doors arrive ready to hang. Either way, seal any cut or trimmed edge with a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex or Osmo, and our door treatments and maintenance guide cover day-to-day care.
