Oak 4 Panel Doors

A four panel door sets four framed panels into the face, most often as two over two, and it is our most popular panel style for a reason: the balanced, symmetrical look sits happily in old and new homes alike. The range runs from clean, flat-panel contemporary designs through to raised and moulded Victorian and period arrangements, so the same shape can read modern or traditional depending on the detailing. Every door here is made for inside the home, in solid oak or an oak veneer over an engineered core.

Contemporary and period styles

The quickest way to narrow the range is by look. Flat, square-edged panels give a clean shaker feel that suits a modern room, which you will find across our shaker doors, while raised and moulded panels lean traditional and suit a Victorian or period property. In between sit simple two-over-two designs that work almost anywhere, along with 1930s-style arrangements for character homes. Because the four panel layout is so versatile, it is easy to carry one style through the whole house.

Glazed options

Many four panel designs are also glazed, setting toughened glass into one or more of the panels to borrow light between rooms while keeping the framed shape. Clear glass keeps a hallway bright and open, while obscure glass lets the light through but keeps a level of privacy, which makes a glazed design a popular choice between a living room and a hall.

Fire-rated doors

Where building regulations call for a fire door, you do not have to lose the four panel look. Many designs are also made as FD30 oak panel fire doors, built with a denser core and intumescent seals to hold back fire and smoke, ideal between a garage and the house or off a landing.

Finish, solid oak and oak veneer

Four panel doors come prefinished, ready to hang with the oak already sealed, or unfinished for you to treat in your own tone with a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex from our door treatments. Many are solid oak; some modern ranges use an oak veneer over an engineered core for a flatter, more stable face, and the construction is shown on each product page.

Compare other panel counts

If you are weighing four panels against a simpler or busier face, it is easy to compare. Browse the full oak panel door range, or step across to our 2 panel doors and 3 panel doors to see the difference before you choose.

  • Flat contemporary or raised traditional four panel faces
  • Two-over-two, Victorian, Regency and 1930s arrangements
