Oak Veneer External Doors
An oak veneer external door gives you an oak face over a core built for stability, so it keeps the grain, warmth and colour of oak while standing up to a wide or exposed opening. It makes a practical front door for the street side of the house. Round the back, it works just as hard as a back door on garden, utility and side entrances. If you would rather have solid oak throughout, our solid oak external doors lead the range as the premium choice.
Built on a stable engineered core
Each door has an oak veneer bonded to a solid engineered core, dowel-jointed for strength. Building it up this way keeps the door far more dimensionally stable than a single solid section, so it is less prone to the twisting and warping a wide or heavily exposed door can show over time — while the oak face is indistinguishable from solid oak once finished.
Traditional and contemporary styles
Styles run from cottage and panelled designs to cleaner contemporary looks, in glazed and unglazed options:
- Glazed doors, from a single light to fully glazed, with sealed double-glazed units in clear or obscured glass

The doors are supplied unfinished, so oil every face and edge before hanging and keep it topped up over time — our external door treatments cover the oils we stock. To complete the opening, hang the door in a matching oak door frame, cill included, and finish it with the right external door handles and hardware.

Both give the look of oak. Solid oak is worked from thick oak sections and is the more substantial, premium option; a veneered door puts an oak veneer over a stable engineered core, which holds its shape better on wide or exposed openings, so the right choice depends on the opening and the look you're after.
