Oak Internal Bifold Doors

An internal bifold door is made of two oak leaves hinged together that fold flat against each other as they open, running on a track above the opening so the door concertinas neatly to one side. That makes it one of the best space-savers of any internal door, as it needs almost no floor clearance, unlike a hinged door that has to swing out into the room. Indoors it earns its place on wardrobes and storage, across a utility or airing cupboard, and anywhere an opening is wide but the space around it is tight. Every bifold here is built in oak, so you keep the warmth and grain of the range on a genuinely practical fitting.

Where bifold doors work

A bifold is at its best wherever a swinging door would be awkward or wasteful. It is the natural choice for a fitted wardrobe or a run of storage, where a pair of bifolds opens the whole front at once yet folds back into very little space. It also works well on a utility, pantry or airing cupboard, and as a light divider between two areas you want to open right up or close off for quiet. Because the leaves fold flat to the side, nearby furniture and walkways stay clear, which is usually the whole reason for choosing one over a hinged door.

Solid oak and oak veneer options

Alongside them sit oak veneer designs, a genuine oak face on a stable engineered core, for lighter panelled, Mexicano and glazed looks. Fitting and running gear

A bifold hangs from a track at the top and folds on hinges between the leaves, with a guide keeping the foot of the door in line, so it is worth planning the gear and the pull early. The opening needs to be square and the track set level for the leaves to fold and meet cleanly. You will find suitable handles and catches in our door hardware to finish the door off.

Finishing your bifold door

The doors are supplied unfinished, or with our oiling service if you would rather they arrived ready to hang. Seal every face before or soon after fitting, including the folding edges and the top and bottom, as these are easily missed.
