Grade A is the top selection standard for oak: boards hand selected for even colour and clean grain, with few knots. Every door in this collection is made from Grade A solid oak, and the specification table on each product page confirms it. The wood runs right through each door, with no veneer and no hollow core.
At a glance
- Every door on this page is Grade A solid oak, stated on each product's specification table.
- Grade A boards are chosen for even colour and clean grain, so the doors in a hallway match each other.
- All 15 are internal doors, and none is fire rated. Certified doors live in our fire doors range.
- Styles cover Victorian and Shaker panel doors, the grooved Mexicano, the cottage Suffolk, and barn and stable designs.
- Glazed designs come without glass, apart from the Four Panel Glazed French Door, which arrives with clear glass fitted.
What Grade A means on the door in front of you
Oak boards vary. Some carry heavy knots and wide swings in colour; the best are calm, even and clean. Grading is simply the sorting of one from the other, and Grade A is the top of that sort. It matters most where several doors stand in sight of each other, because doors cut from matched boards read as a set.
The grade runs all the way through
On a veneered door, the oak is only a surface layer. Here it is the whole door. That means the door can be planed to fit an existing opening, and marks picked up over the years can be sanded out and the door refinished in place. It also means the edges show the same timber as the face, so nothing needs hiding.
Fifteen doors, one standard
The range runs from period to plain: Victorian four and six panel doors, the flat panel versions, the grooved Mexicano, the Five Panel Shaker, the cottage Suffolk, and barn and stable designs. Most are supplied sanded and unfinished so you choose the final colour; the same doors appear in our unfinished solid oak internal doors collection alongside finishing advice. If you want a door treated before it arrives, several offer our in-house oiling service, and our prefinished solid oak internal doors are ready to hang.
Complete the look
Matched timber carries through a room. Our oak skirting and architrave is cut from the same species, and handles and knobs finish the door itself. The full range of styles and constructions is in oak internal doors.
