Oak Glazed External Doors
A glazed external door brings daylight into a hallway, porch or kitchen while keeping the strength and security of a solid oak entrance. The range is led by our hand-crafted solid oak, worked from thick sections of oak into designs made for glass — supplied unglazed with the apertures ready, so you can fit the glass of your choice. To see the premium range on its own, browse our solid oak external doors.
Glazing styles, from a single light to fully glazed
How much glass you want is the main choice, and it sets the balance between light and privacy:
- Single-light and small-pane designs keep most of the door solid and private
- Half-glazed designs balance light and privacy
- Fully glazed designs maximise the daylight into a room
- Clear glass for the view, or obscured glass where a door faces the street
Traditional and contemporary designs
Styles run from cottage and Victorian-panel looks to cleaner contemporary designs, so a glazed oak door suits a period cottage or a modern façade equally. A glazed door makes a natural front door to carry light into a hallway. It works just as well as a back door onto a garden or utility room.
Oak veneer and engineered doors, factory-glazed
Alongside the solid oak, the range includes oak-veneered engineered doors that arrive factory-glazed with sealed double-glazed units, ready to hang and dimensionally stable on wider or more exposed openings. See the full engineered range in our veneered external doors.
Finishing, frames and hardware
An oak door benefits from oiling, and our external door treatments cover the oils we stock and how to keep it weather-tight. Hang the door in a matching oak door frame, cill included, and finish it with the right external door handles and hardware. Every glazed door here is part of our full external door range, and you can see everything together on the external doors hub.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. A solid oak door is heavy and rigid, and paired with a multi-point lock and quality glass it makes a secure entrance; choosing less glass, or obscured glazing, adds privacy on a door facing the street.
Our oak-veneered engineered doors arrive with a sealed double-glazed unit fitted, while the hand-crafted solid oak designs are supplied unglazed with the apertures ready for the glass of your choice — the product page shows how each door is supplied.
Yes — many designs offer clear or obscured (frosted) glass, so you can have the view where you want it and privacy where a door faces the street.
