Our unfinished oak fire doors arrive as bare oak, ready for you to oil, wax or lacquer to exactly the tone you want. That makes them the natural choice when you need to match existing doors and joinery, or when you have a particular finish in mind for the room. Each door is an oak veneer over a dense, fire-resisting engineered core, tested as a complete FD30 door for up to 30 minutes of protection, so finishing it yourself does not change what it is built to do. Because the oak is bare, an unfinished door should be treated on all faces and both long edges before it goes into service.
Finishing to match your home
Finishing a door yourself gives you full control over the final colour and sheen, from a natural clear oil that keeps the oak pale to a warmer tone that ties into older joinery.
