When you are adding a reclaimed or authentic look to your home, cottage or barn conversion, the finer details are often the most important. This Solid Oak Barn Door highlights the natural beauty found within solid oak and adds character and authenticity to any room. Visible knots, graining and an array of hues give the door a vibrancy that makes it unique and ensures it stands out.

It is one of our oak barn doors, handmade from 100% solid oak and made to a substantial 44mm thickness. It is built with fixed-width vertical planks and three horizontal ledges, with no diagonal braces, and finished with a stylish cock bead profile that runs along the boards for a crisp, traditional line. As a Grade A door, the oak has an even colour and a straight grain, so the face reads clean and uniform while still showing the natural character of the wood.

The look can be enhanced even further when the door is oiled, or set off with additional oak furnishings from our range. It also pairs well with traditional black ironmongery; you can match the hinges, latches and other fittings on our door hardware pages. It is also available in made-to-measure sizes for a non-standard opening.

Being solid oak all the way through, rather than an oak face over a manufactured core, the door can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and trimmed a little to fit an opening. Oak moves slightly with the seasons, so leave a small gap for expansion when fitting.

Our internal doors are supplied untreated, so finish yours with a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex, which is made for solid oak doors. Seal all faces before hanging, including the top and bottom edges, which are the ones most often missed. The door is available unfinished and sanded, or you can choose to have it prefinished before delivery through our in-house oiling service, which uses the same high-quality oils sold on our site. To have your door pre-treated, simply choose your finish before adding it to the basket.

Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Is this door solid oak?

Yes. This door is 100% solid oak throughout, rather than an oak veneer over an engineered core.

What finish would you recommend on this door?

We recommend using a suitable hardwax oil to protect the door against the elements and everyday use. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable for this purpose and their use will most likely void the warranty.

What is the difference between rustic and prime grade oak?

Rustic oak generally has more visible knots and natural character, while prime grade oak is usually cleaner and more uniform in appearance.

What is the difference between a solid oak door and an oak veneer door?

A solid oak door is made from solid oak throughout, rather than a thin oak veneer over an engineered core. This gives it a substantial feel, natural variation and long-lasting character, so you get authentic oak in your home.

Delivery Information

Because it’s important that our products get to you in perfect condition and on time, we only work with trusted, reliable delivery companies who have an excellent reputation. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
