Solid Oak Door Linings and Frames for Your Internal Doors
A door lining is the inner casing that fits inside the structural opening, lines the reveal and carries the door on its hinges, so it is the part that actually holds the door and squares up the opening. An oak door lining ties that working part into the oak joinery around it, reading as a finished surround rather than a painted box, and it gives you a crisp oak edge where the door meets the wall. Our linings arrive with moveable stoppers so you can set the door position exactly, and door stoppers are included as standard.
The range runs from solid oak lining sets through prefinished oak veneer sets to internal, external and fire-rated oak door frames, so you can match the lining or frame to the door and the level of finish you want. Every solid oak lining is supplied pre-sanded and unfinished, ready for oiling, while the prefinished sets come factory-finished for a consistent face straight out of the pack.
Oak Door Lining Sets
The solid oak sets are worked from prime grade oak throughout, so a lining can be sanded back and refinished years later rather than painted over, and the grain runs to match a solid oak door hung within it. Each set is supplied as the two jamb legs and the head with the moveable door stops included, and sized by the thickness of the wall it sits in - 108mm, 133mm, 170mm and 250mm, with extra-wide linings available up to 300mm. Alongside the solid oak sets there are prefinished oak veneer lining sets, which wrap a real oak veneer over a stable core rather than being solid oak, for where you want a ready-finished face straight out of the pack. Browse the full choice in our internal door lining sets to find the set and width that suits your doorway.
Oak Door Frames
For heavier or external openings we offer oak door frames rather than linings. A frame is the more substantial choice where the opening is structural or exposed to the weather - a front or back door rather than an internal doorway - and for an entrance it is supplied with a cill and weather seal to keep the weather out. These are made to suit our solid oak external doors, with specials such as vestibule, fanlight and curved-head frames for porch and period openings, so see the full choice in our external oak door frames collection. For a fire door opening, our oak fire door frames, linings and casings are built to FD30 and FD60 fire ratings to carry a certified fire door.
Why Oak Door Linings from UK Oak Doors
Because we make oak doors first, our linings and frames are cut to match them, so the surround carries the same oak as the door hung within it rather than a near-miss from a separate supplier. Solid oak linings arrive pre-sanded and unfinished, so seal them with a Treatex hardwax oil once fitted to protect the oak and bring the grain to the tone you want. The collection sits within our wider oak skirting, architrave and accessories range, so doors, linings, frames, architrave and skirting can all be specified together as one coordinated set rather than sourced piece by piece.
Frequently asked questions
A lining is the lighter inner casing that fits inside an internal opening and carries the door on its hinges. A frame is heavier and usually used for external or structural openings, often with a cill and seal. Both square up the opening and hold the door.
Our solid oak lining sets are prime grade oak throughout and can be refinished in future. We also offer prefinished oak veneer sets and FD30 fire-rated linings, which use a real oak veneer over a stable core where a factory finish or a fire rating is needed.
The lining width needs to match your wall thickness. We supply 108mm, 133mm, 170mm and 250mm widths, with extra-wide linings available up to 300mm. Moveable stoppers let you set the door position exactly, and stoppers are included.
