Narrow 610mm (24 Inch) Fire Doors
The 610mm size is the narrowest standard width we stock, made for the compact openings a wider leaf simply will not fit. These doors suit cupboards, utility rooms, cloakrooms, box rooms and the tighter doorways often found in older cottages and terraces, where you still need a certified fire door but have limited width. Every door here is one of our oak fire doors in a 610mm width, an oak veneer over a dense, fire-resisting engineered core.
How these doors are built
Each door is bought in from established fire-door makers such as Deanta, LPD and JB Kind, and built the way all genuine fire doors are: a fire-resisting core faced with an oak veneer and finished with oak lippings. The core earns the rating while the oak face gives the grain and warmth. Most are FD30, giving up to 30 minutes of fire resistance; where a 60-minute door is called for, our FD60 fire doors cover that requirement.
Styles available in a narrow width
Because this is a narrower leaf, the choice of designs is smaller than at standard widths, but you can still match the look of your home. Panelled designs sit well in period interiors, while flush and contemporary faces suit a modern scheme. If you want to borrow light into a hall or landing, our glazed fire doors carry fire-rated glass in the same core.
- Panelled designs for traditional and period rooms
- Flush and contemporary faces for modern interiors
- Glazed options where you want to borrow natural light
- Prefinished or unfinished, depending on how you want to finish the oak
Prefinished or unfinished
These doors come either prefinished or unfinished. A prefinished door arrives with its faces sealed and is quicker to hang, though any hinge, latch and handle cut-outs you make expose bare material that must be sealed as you fit. An unfinished door lets you match an existing tone, but every face and edge needs oiling or sealing before use, as covered in our internal door treatments guide.
Completing the fire doorset
A fire door only performs as part of a fitted set. You will need a suitable fire door frame or lining to hang it in. The correct fire-rated hinges then keep it swinging true and hold their integrity in a fire, and intumescent strips and smoke seals close the gaps around the leaf as heat rises.
610mm (24 Inch) Fire Door FAQs
No. Like all genuine fire doors, each 610mm door has a dense, fire-resisting engineered core finished with an oak veneer and oak lippings. The core delivers the fire rating while the oak face gives the natural grain of an oak door.
610mm is the metric equivalent of a 24 inch door leaf. It is one of the narrower standard widths, suited to compact openings rather than main rooms.
This narrow width suits cupboards, utility rooms, cloakrooms, box rooms and the tighter doorways common in older cottages and terraces, wherever a fire door is needed but space is limited.
