Solid Oak Front Doors
A front door sets the tone for the whole house, so ours are made to be seen and to last. This range of oak front doors is led by our hand-crafted solid oak — a substantial, traditional entrance worked from thick sections of oak, in glazed and panelled styles to suit period and modern homes alike.
Solid oak is the heart of the range. It carries the grain, colour tone and natural character that make an oak door such a strong choice, it takes an oil or finish beautifully, and it only looks better with age. To see the premium range on its own, browse our solid oak external doors.
Traditional and contemporary styles
Choose a glazed door to bring daylight into a hallway, or an unglazed panelled door for privacy and a solid, traditional look — styles run from cottage and Victorian panels to cleaner contemporary designs, and a front entrance can be paired with a matching sidelight. For the doors with more glass, our glazed external doors gather the fully and half-glazed options in one place.
Front door options
The range covers a spread of styles and finishes:
- Solid oak front doors in traditional panelled and cottage styles
- Glazed doors to carry light into a hallway, many with double-glazed units
- Unglazed panelled doors for privacy and a solid, traditional look
- Prefinished doors that arrive protected, or unfinished doors ready to treat
- Oak-veneered engineered doors for wider or more exposed openings
Finishing and weatherproofing
An external door has to cope with sun, rain and temperature swings. Some of ours arrive prefinished and protected; others are supplied unfinished, ready for you to oil all faces and edges before hanging. Either way, an oak door benefits from re-coating over time — our external door treatments cover the oils we stock and how to keep an oak door weather-tight.
Frames, hardware and the wider range
A door is only part of the job. We supply matching oak door frames to hang it in, with the cill included, plus external door handles and hardware to finish it off.
The same doors work just as well at the rear of the house, so it is worth a look at our back doors for a matched look front and back.
Front doors are part of our full external door range — see the complete external doors line-up in one place.
Frequently asked questions
A solid oak or oak-veneered door is heavy and rigid, and paired with a quality multi-point lock and the right hardware it makes a secure, long-lasting entrance.
It depends: prefinished doors arrive protected, while unfinished doors should be oiled on all faces and edges before fitting — and any oak door benefits from periodic re-coating.
Solid oak is worked from thick oak sections and is our premium choice; oak-veneered doors put a real oak face over a stable core, which resists movement better on wide or exposed openings.
