Product Details

Description

A classic boarded oak door built the traditional way: hand-selected Grade A European oak with vertical boarding and a small square glazed section for your own glass.

About the Suffolk Oak Door

The Suffolk has a timeless vertical-boarded face with shallow grooves between the boards, giving a refined, traditional look that suits period homes and barn conversions alike. A small square section with removable glazing bars lets you add your own glazed panel. Both faces share the same design. For a similar style with deeper grooves, see the Mexicano.

Handcrafted solid oak

Built to order in the UK from 100% hand-selected Grade A European oak, using traditional full mortice and tenon joints assembled with modern tooling for a super-strong, long-lasting door with a warm oak tone. The door is 44mm thick, available in four standard sizes and to bespoke sizes on request, and comes with a matching oak weather bar on the exterior face.

Finishing & Care

This door arrives prefinished and ready to hang, professionally finished to bring out the oak's natural tone and grain. Like any external oak door, it is best fitted in a sheltered spot, under a porch or canopy, rather than fully exposed to driving rain or strong sun. Timber is a natural material and can move a little as it settles in; the occasional minor adjustment is a normal part of looking after a solid oak door.

Although supplied prefinished, this door should be re-coated roughly every six months with a suitable external treatment such as the Impranol range, and kept dry through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page.

Important Information

Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this door solid oak?
Yes, This product features 100% solid oak construction.
Is this door suitable for all weather conditions?
This door is designed for external use, but it must be protected correctly before installation and maintained regularly. We recommend a suitable hardwax oil; most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable and their use will most likely void the warranty.
Is this door available in different sizes?
Available sizes are shown in the product options. Please check the listed sizes carefully before ordering, as availability can vary by product.
How energy-efficient is this door?
Energy performance depends on the full installation, including the door, frame, seals and any glazing option. Please check the product specification and fitting guidance.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date.  Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery.  We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload.  Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy.  65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
