Solid Oak Rustic Barn Door

Our Solid Oak Rustic Barn Door is the perfect blend of old-world charm and contemporary style. Made by hand to our quality standards, it features clean vertical oak boards held by sturdy horizontal ledges for a classic barn look. It is one of our oak barn doors, a plank door built on ledges with no diagonal braces, and with its minimalist but robust styling it works just as well in a traditional cottage as in a modern interior.

The vertical boards show the natural character of solid oak at its best. Each board carries its own grain and colour variation, and the rich brown knots contrast beautifully with the lighter amber tones of the wood, so natural variation makes every door distinctly different. Because the oak is rustic and hand-selected, the boards are of random width, though we aim to keep the variation modest across each door.

It is made from specially kiln-dried rustic oak. Rustic grade keeps the knots, shakes and natural colour movement that give the door its character, and small nail holes are visible in the face, which can be filled if you prefer a smoother look. As with all our rustic doors, any open knots are finished with a natural-coloured filler, which is part of the character rather than a fault.

Being solid oak all the way through, rather than an oak face over a manufactured core, the door can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and trimmed a little to fit an opening. Oak moves slightly with the seasons, so leave a small gap for expansion when fitting.

Pairing this door with black ironmongery, such as traditional strap hinges, handles or latches, makes a real feature of it; the dark hardware complements the rich colour of the oak and adds depth and authenticity. It is also available in a made-to-measure size for a non-standard opening.

Whether you live in a historic home, a barn conversion or a modern house wanting a touch of rustic charm, this door brings genuine craftsmanship and heritage to a room. It is supplied pre-sanded and unfinished, so you can choose the final finish, or add our in-house oiling service to have it treated before delivery. Use a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex, and seal every face before hanging, including the top and bottom edges, which are the ones most often missed.

Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Is this door solid oak?

Yes. This door is 100% solid oak throughout, rather than an oak veneer over an engineered core.

Does this door come with a frame?

Door frames and linings are not included unless they are specifically listed in the product details. Compatible frames or linings should be ordered separately where required.

What finish would you recommend on this door?

We recommend using a suitable hardwax oil to protect the door against the elements and everyday use. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable for this purpose and their use will most likely void the warranty.

What is the difference between rustic and prime grade oak?

Rustic oak generally has more visible knots and natural character, while prime grade oak is usually cleaner and more uniform in appearance.

Delivery Information

Because it’s important that our products get to you in perfect condition and on time, we only work with trusted, reliable delivery companies who have an excellent reputation. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
