FD30 Fire Door Frames and Linings

A fire door is only as good as the frame it hangs in. Our fire door frames and linings are made to take an FD30 fire door and, fitted with the right seals, form part of a complete, tested fire doorset. The range covers solid frames and universal lining sets sized to suit standard fire door widths, in oak to match the doors, so the opening looks right as well as performing. Getting this part right is what turns a fire door into a doorset that actually does its job in a fire.

Frames, linings and casings explained

It helps to know the difference between the three. A door frame is the solid surround a door is hung from, used where the opening needs a sturdy, standalone frame. A door lining is a lighter surround fitted within a structural opening, which is the usual choice for internal fire doors in a home, and a lining set normally includes the casing, the facing that trims the join between the lining and the wall. Between the solid frames and universal lining sets here, you can suit almost any internal opening.

Matching the frame to the door

For the doorset to perform, the frame or lining has to suit the door. Match it to your door width and thickness, and pair it with the correct intumescent strips and smoke seals from our strips and seals range so the gaps close under heat. A rated door, a rated frame or lining, those seals and the right fire door hinges together make up the tested set. The doors themselves sit in the oak fire doors collection, with common openings covered by our 762mm and 838mm fire door ranges.

Finishing

The oak frames and linings can be finished to match your doors. Where one is supplied unfinished, seal the oak, and any cut ends, before or during fitting, using the oils in our internal door treatments guide. A hardwood lining is also offered, a practical choice where it will be painted or sits out of sight.
