60-Minute Fire Doors

Our FD60 oak fire doors give up to 60 minutes of fire resistance, double the 30 minutes of a standard FD30 door. They are for the situations where a longer hold is specified, such as certain flats and larger or mixed-use buildings, or wherever a fire risk assessment or building control calls for 60-minute protection rather than 30. Like the rest of the range, each one is an oak veneer over a dense, fire-resisting engineered core and is tested as a complete door, so you get the extra protection with the same natural oak look. The doors come from established fire-door manufacturers, so the FD60 rating is certified and dependable.

FD30 or FD60: which do you need?

Most homes use FD30 doors, which give 30 minutes and cover the majority of domestic situations, such as a door between the house and an integral garage or onto a protected stairway. FD60 is specified where more time is needed, often in larger buildings, flats above a certain height, or where a fire strategy or building control officer requires it. How FD60 doors are built

An FD60 door reaches 60 minutes through a denser, often thicker fire-resisting core than an FD30 door, which also makes it heavier. The oak veneer face and lippings look the same, so an FD60 door sits alongside FD30 doors without standing out. Because of the extra weight and the higher rating, an FD60 door needs a frame, seals and hinges rated to match, fitted as a complete set.
