Wider Oak Fire Doors for Larger Openings

At 813mm, or 32 inches, this is a wider-than-standard leaf, sitting between the common 30 inch door and the broadest 33 inch size. It suits larger rooms and openings where a standard width would look a little narrow, and it is often chosen where a more generous, accessible opening is wanted while still meeting a fire requirement. Every door here is one of our oak fire doors in an 813mm width, an oak veneer over a dense, fire-resisting engineered core.

Extra Width for Access and Scale

This width earns its place in two ways. In a larger room or a main through-route a broader leaf keeps the proportions right where a standard door would look mean; and because the clear opening you pass through is wider once the frame and stops are allowed for, it is a common choice where easier, more accessible access is wanted alongside the fire rating. If accessibility is the reason, remember that the clear opening depends on the frame and how far the door swings back, so measure the actual width you need rather than the leaf size alone.

Matching the Design to the Room

At 32 inches the choice is a little more focused than at the standard size, but there is still a design for most interiors. A modern flush face suits a contemporary room or a wide landing, while a panelled door holds a more traditional space together. Build and Fire Rating

These doors come from established makers such as Deanta, LPD and JB Kind, built as every genuine fire door is, with a fire-resisting core beneath an oak veneer and oak lippings to the edges. The core provides the certification and the oak face the finish. Most are FD30, rated for up to 30 minutes; where a 60 minute door is specified, our FD60 fire doors meet that standard.

Clear Opening, Hinges and Seals

A fire door performs only as a complete, fitted set, and a wider leaf asks a little more of it. It needs a suitable fire door frame or lining that preserves the clear opening you are aiming for, the correct fire-rated hinges to carry the extra width, and intumescent strips with smoke seals around the leaf. For finishing, a prefinished door seals and hangs quickly with its cut-outs made good as you fit, while an unfinished door lets you set the tone yourself once every face and edge is treated, as covered in our internal door treatments guide.
