Rustic Oak Ledge and Brace Door

Our internal ledge and brace door is made from 100% solid rustic grade oak. The character of rustic grade oak gives each of these ledge and brace oak doors a unique look, with random deep brown knots and colour variations in the solid wood which stand out further once the door is oiled.

Available in made to measure sizes; contact us for more information. Due to the characteristics of rustic solid oak, the number of vertical planks in each door may vary.

Perfect for the traditional style home, with the natural warmth of the oak colour tones and the added pattern of the bead and butt style profile on the vertical boards of this rustic oak door.

Manufactured to the highest standard and handmade by skilled craftsmen using techniques centuries old, but with modern materials to give you a traditional-looking oak cottage door with the durability of the modern age. This 40mm thick door is a demonstration of quality craftsmanship and sophistication. Not only does it feel sturdy when touched, its unique 20mm thick vertical panels are aesthetically pleasing, too. The whole solid oak internal door is put together by hand using the screw and plug method, giving the ledges and braces a distinctive look.

Being solid oak all the way through, rather than an oak face over a manufactured core, the door can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and trimmed a little to fit an opening. Oak moves slightly with the seasons, so leave a small gap for expansion when fitting.

This solid oak door looks even more striking when paired with our black hand-forged ironmongery, making it truly stand out against the backdrop of the amber-like solid oak rustic wood door, and will add a real striking fixture to your internal space. When fitting a Suffolk latch to this rustic oak ledge and brace door, you may find that you need an oak latch block to accompany it.

This traditional oak door is supplied pre-sanded and unfinished to provide you with the opportunity to give it your desired look, the look that best matches the overall design of your house. However, if you prefer, you can let us do the hard work through using our in-house oiling service to pre-finish these solid oak ledge and brace doors in a colour of your choosing. Seal every face before hanging, including the top and bottom edges, with a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex.

Please note that the planks in this door are not equal width, which gives this rustic door a slight modern look, making it perfect for barn conversions or a modern home. Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Yes. This door is 100% solid oak throughout, rather than an oak veneer over an engineered core.

Does this door come with a frame?

Door frames and linings are not included unless they are specifically listed in the product details. Compatible frames or linings should be ordered separately where required.

What finish would you recommend on this door?

We recommend using a suitable hardwax oil to protect the door against the elements and everyday use. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable for this purpose and their use will most likely void the warranty.

What is the difference between a solid oak door and an oak veneer door?

A solid oak door is made from solid oak throughout, rather than a thin oak veneer over an engineered core. This gives it natural variation and long-lasting character, so you get authentic oak in your home.

Delivery Information

Because it’s important that our products get to you in perfect condition and on time, we only work with trusted, reliable delivery companies who have an excellent reputation. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

Doors - £40.00* (this is per order, not per door)
Ironmongery and Oils - £15.00
Skirting, Architraves, Linings, Window boards and Furniture - £25.00

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
