Ely Prefinished Oak 1SL Glazed FD30 Fire Door

The Ely 1SL is an FD30 take on the most popular door style in the UK, a run of clean vertical panels with a slim side-light of clear fire-rated glass down one side to draw daylight into a hallway or landing. It complements old and new interiors alike and sits comfortably among our modern oak internal doors. Like every genuine fire door it is not solid oak; it is faced in oak veneer over a solid, fire-resisting core, so the design still carries natural oak grain and warmth.

It is rated FD30 for up to 30 minutes of fire resistance, with third-party certification under the Certifire and BM TRADA Q-Mark schemes. A fire door only performs to its rating as part of a complete, fitted set, so it should hang in a fire-rated frame or lining, on the correct fire-rated hinges, with intumescent strips and smoke seals around the leaf, and on at least three hinges. The fire-rated glass is factory-fitted into a tested aperture and should not be altered on site.

The door is edged with oak lippings and carries a generous trimming allowance of up to around 15mm on each edge, so it fits neatly to a slightly out-of-square opening. It sits against oak skirting and architrave in a matching tone. The veneer is FSC certified, and the door carries a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects.

It takes a lever handle and the appropriate fire-rated hinges, so you can match the ironmongery from our door handles and hardware.

Being prefinished, the faces arrive sealed and ready to hang, though fitting still exposes bare oak: seal the hinge, latch and handle cut-outs and any trimmed edge with a suitable hardwax oil as you fit, keeping the oil off the glass. Please note that this product is prefinished. When installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately.

What finish would you recommend on this door?

The faces arrive sealed, so the main surfaces need no oiling. Where you cut in the hinges, latch or handle, seal those freshly exposed edges with a compatible hardwax oil, keeping it off the glass. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable and can void the warranty.

Is this door fire-rated?

Yes. It is rated FD30 for up to 30 minutes of fire resistance and is Certifire and BM TRADA Q-Mark certified, with fire-rated glass in the side lite. It only performs to that rating as part of a complete fitted set, so use a fire-rated frame or lining, fire-rated hinges and intumescent strips and smoke seals.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
