Solid Oak Bifold Barn Door

Our Solid Oak Bifold Barn Door brings together fine craftsmanship and a practical, space-saving design. Handmade to our high standards, it keeps the look of a traditional ledged barn door but folds to one side instead of swinging, thanks to its smooth bifold action. It is one of our oak bifold doors, with extra-wide ledges, a bead and butt profile and robust plug and screw construction, so it looks at home in both period and modern interiors.

A bifold door is made in two leaves that are hinged together, so the door folds back on itself as it opens rather than swinging out into the room. That makes it a neat, space-saving choice for a wardrobe, an en-suite, a pantry or a room divider, where a full swinging door would take up too much floor. It runs on a track, so it glides open and folds tidily to one side.

Made from 100% prime Grade A solid oak, each door shows the natural beauty of the oak. The vertical boards highlight the grain and the fine colour shades, and the knot-light, even face gives the door a refined appearance. Being solid oak all the way through, it can be sanded back and re-treated over its life, and it will move a little with the seasons, so allow a small gap for expansion when fitting.

The reinforced plug and screw build holds the boards to the extra-wide ledges and keeps the door strong and stable. As a barn-style door it uses ledges rather than diagonal braces, which keeps the face plain and lets the boards and the bead and butt profile carry the look.

Pair the door with black ironmongery, such as classic hinges, handles or latches, to make a striking focal point in a room; the dark finish sits well against the golden glow of the oak. To join the two leaves we suggest three H-hinges, which you can find alongside the latches and tracks on our door hardware pages. It is also available in made-to-measure sizes; get in touch for details.

This door comes unfinished and pre-sanded, so you can finish it yourself with a suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex from our door treatments. If you prefer, our in-house finishing service will pre-treat it, bringing out the natural colour of the oak and giving long-term protection. Seal all faces, including the top and bottom edges, which are the ones most often missed. To have your door pre-treated, simply choose the prefinished option.

If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Is this door solid oak?

Yes. This door is 100% solid oak throughout, rather than an oak veneer over an engineered core.

Does this door come with a frame?

Door frames and linings are not included unless they are specifically listed in the product details. Compatible frames or linings should be ordered separately where required.

What finish would you recommend on this door?

We recommend using a suitable hardwax oil to protect the door in everyday use. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable for this purpose and their use will most likely void the warranty.

What is the difference between rustic and prime grade oak?

Rustic oak generally has more visible knots and natural character, while prime grade oak is usually cleaner and more uniform in appearance.

Delivery Information

Because it’s important that our products get to you in perfect condition and on time, we only work with trusted, reliable delivery companies who have an excellent reputation. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
