Suffolk Cottage Style Oak Door

The Suffolk Cottage Style Oak Door is a modern take on the traditional plank door, with a clean vertical-plank Mexicano face that gives it a warm, cottage feel without overpowering a room. It is one of our oak cottage doors, and settles comfortably into both period properties and modern homes. It is faced with American white oak veneer over a solid core, so the understated look comes with natural oak grain, and every door carries its own character.

It is supplied at 35mm or 40mm thick, each with a trimming allowance. The solid core makes a more substantial, better-insulating door than a hollow core, and it sits neatly against oak skirting and architrave in a matching tone. The veneer is FSC certified, with a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects. This listing is supplied unfinished; a prefinished version is also offered if you prefer a ready-sealed face.

It hangs on standard hinges and takes a handle, knob or latch, so you can match the ironmongery from our door handles and hardware. Because the face is a natural veneer, no two doors look exactly alike.

Being unfinished, the door must be treated before it goes into use: seal every face and every edge, including the top and bottom, with a suitable hardwax oil, and re-treat periodically to keep it looking its best. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. How do I maintain this door?

Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or excess moisture. For ongoing protection, we recommend a suitable hardwax oil; most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable and their use will most likely void the warranty.

Does this door come with a frame?

Door frames and linings are not included unless they are specifically listed in the product details. Compatible frames or linings should be ordered separately where required.

Delivery Information

Because it’s important that our products get to you in perfect condition and on time, we only work with trusted, reliable delivery companies who have an excellent reputation. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
