Oak internal doors bring warmth, character and lasting strength to a home, and this is where you will find the full range in one place. Solid Oak or Oak Veneer
Every door here is oak, but there are two ways it is made. A solid oak door is machined from oak throughout, so it feels substantial, can be sanded back and re-treated over the years, and can be made to measure for an awkward opening. An engineered door uses an oak veneer bonded over a stable core, which keeps it flat and true in a centrally heated home and makes it a natural choice for glazed and fire-rated designs. Both give you the look and grain of oak; the difference is in the feel underhand, the price, and how far the door can be trimmed or tailored.
Door Styles for Every Interior
Traditional homes tend to suit panelled and period looks, from Victorian and Edwardian to 1930s and classic cottage doors with their plank and ledge detailing. Modern rooms lean towards clean-lined Shaker, grooved Mexicano and flush contemporary faces. Barn and ledged doors add rustic character, while glazed styles borrow light between rooms. Many homes mix a couple of these looks, so it helps to see the families side by side before you settle on one.
Glazed, Panelled and Fire Doors
It also helps to think about what the door needs to do. Panel and flush doors give privacy and a solid feel, while glazed doors share daylight into hallways and darker rooms. French and bi-fold designs open up between spaces, and fire doors carry an FD30 or FD60 rating where Building Regulations call for one, such as a doorway between an integral garage or loft conversion and the rest of the house. Finish and Fitting
Oak doors come either unfinished or prefinished. An unfinished door is ready for you to seal in the shade you like, and we offer an oiling service if you would rather it arrived treated; either way, a hardwax oil protects the grain while letting it show through. A prefinished door arrives ready to hang and needs only its trimmed edges resealing. Most veneered doors come in standard sizes with a trim allowance, while our solid oak doors can be made to measure to match the rest of your joinery.
