Description

Solid Oak 4 Ledge Single Sliding Barn Door Kit

This kit contains one Solid Oak 4 Ledge Barn Door and one sliding door track kit, giving you a space-saving alternative to a hinged door. It brings together a solid oak barn door and a sliding track, so you get the traditional look without giving up floor space.

We put this kit together for rooms where a swinging door would get in the way. Instead of leaving clearance for the door to open into the room, it slides sideways across the face of the wall, running along a track fixed above the opening. That suits smaller rooms, landings and open-plan spaces where every bit of floor matters.

The door is handcrafted from prime Grade A solid oak and made to a substantial 44mm thickness. It has four horizontal ledges rather than the usual three, which gives the barn door its solid, flat-fronted face. The ledges are screwed and plugged onto the vertical boards using square oak plugs, with a chamfered edge and running the full width of the door, a traditional detail that suits the plain board front. Because it is solid oak all the way through, it can be sanded back and re-treated over its life.

The sliding track runs smoothly and quietly, so the door is easy to move day to day. The track head is available in an arrow or a straight design, so you can match the ironmongery to the look of the door. The door is supplied in a range of sizes to suit standard openings.

You can finish the door yourself, or add our in-house oiling service when you order. If you finish it yourself, seal every face before hanging, including the top and bottom edges, and then re-oil roughly every six months to keep the oak protected. Our maintenance guide covers the steps.

You can see more of the range in our oak barn doors.

Important Information

Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this door solid oak?
Yes. The door in this kit is 100% solid oak throughout, rather than an oak veneer over an engineered core.
What finish would you recommend on this door?
We recommend using a suitable hardwax oil to protect the door against the elements and everyday use. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable for this purpose and their use will most likely void the warranty.
What is the difference between rustic and prime grade oak?
Rustic oak generally has more visible knots and natural character, while prime grade oak is usually cleaner and more uniform in appearance.
What is the difference between a solid oak door and an oak veneer door?
A solid oak door is made from solid oak throughout, rather than a thin oak veneer over an engineered core. This gives it a substantial feel, natural variation and long-lasting character, so you get authentic oak in your home.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date.  Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery.  We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload.  Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy.  65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
