Internal Oak Fire Doors

Our oak fire doors bring the warmth of oak to a door that is built to hold back fire. Most carry an FD30 rating for up to 30 minutes of fire resistance, which covers the majority of situations in a home, and the range also includes a smaller selection of FD60 doors for up to 60 minutes where more protection is needed. Every one is finished with an oak veneer over a dense, fire-resisting engineered core and tested as a complete door, so you gain the safety of a rated door without giving up the look of a quality internal oak door. The doors come from established fire-door manufacturers, so the certification and performance are backed by the people who build them.

How our oak fire doors are built

A fire door works because of its core, not because it is a thick piece of oak. Ours pair a dense, fire-resisting engineered core with an oak-veneered face and matching oak lippings, tested together as a complete door to the FD30 or FD60 standard. That construction is what lets the door resist fire for its rated time, and it is why a genuine fire door is never a single slab of oak. The result is a stable, heavy door that hangs and behaves like the rest of your oak joinery and takes ironmongery in the usual way.

Styles to suit any interior

The range covers the same designs you would choose for any room, so a fire door never has to look like a compromise. Whether your home is traditional or contemporary, there is a matching style that happens to be fire rated, from glazed doors that borrow light to clean modern faces and classic panels.

  • Glazed oak fire doors with fire-rated vision panels for hallways and rooms that need borrowed light
  • Panelled oak fire doors in traditional four and six panel layouts for period and classic interiors
  • Modern flush and contemporary oak fire doors for a simple, current look
  • Prefinished doors that arrive sealed and ready to hang, or unfinished doors ready to treat in your own shade

If you want the light of a vision panel, our glazed oak fire doors carry fire-rated glass. For a more traditional room, the panelled oak fire doors take a classic four or six panel layout, while the modern oak fire doors keep things clean and contemporary for newer interiors.

Finishes and sizes

Choose the finish that suits how you work. Our prefinished oak fire doors come sealed at the factory and ready to hang, which is the quickest route to a neat, even finish, while the unfinished oak fire doors arrive bare so you can oil or wax them to your preferred tone. An unfinished door should be treated on all faces and edges before it goes into service, and our internal door treatments guide covers the oils and waxes that keep an oak face protected. Popular openings are covered across the common widths, so most standard frames are catered for without the need for a bespoke size.

Complete the fire door

A fire door only performs as part of a fitted set, so the fittings matter as much as the leaf. Hang yours on fire door hinges rated for the job, seal the leaf with the intumescent strips and smoke seals in our strips and seals range, and set it into one of our fire door frames, linings and casings. Fitted together, and to the door's instructions, these are what let the rating do its work, which is why we group them alongside the doors.

Oak Fire Door FAQs

No, and no true fire door is. Each door has a dense, fire-resisting engineered core finished with an oak veneer and oak lippings. The core is what delivers the fire rating, while the oak face gives you the natural grain and warmth of an oak door.

FD30 certifies the door resists fire for up to 30 minutes, and FD60 for up to 60 minutes, when fitted as a complete, tested set. Most homes use FD30; where FD60 is required, look to our dedicated FD60 fire doors.

Yes. A fire door only performs as a fitted set, so it needs the correct fire-rated hinges, intumescent strips and smoke seals, and a suitable frame or lining. You will find each of these in our fire door hinges, strips and seals, and frames ranges.
