External Oak Doors
Thicker and more weather-resistant than a door used inside the house, an external door has to stand up to sun, rain and temperature swings for years. Ours are made in oak for a front, back or side entrance that lasts, led by hand-crafted solid oak and running through to oak-veneered engineered builds in glazed and unglazed styles. These are external wooden doors in genuine oak rather than composite or uPVC, and we have built the range around oak since 2005. For a main entrance, our oak front doors gather the panelled and glazed designs in one place; for a rear or side entrance, our back doors carry the same look through to the back of the house.
External wooden doors in oak
Every door here is oak, and the choice comes down to how it is built. Solid oak is oak all the way through, so the grain and the knots are the door rather than a layer on it, and no two are the same; our solid oak external doors are the hand-crafted, 44mm grade A oak line, and they lead the range. An oak-veneered engineered door sets an oak face over a solid engineered core, dowel jointed, which stays flatter on an exposed elevation through the seasons; our veneered external doors gather that option, and each carries a 10 year manufacturer's warranty when finished and maintained correctly. Choose solid oak for a sheltered opening where you want the door to be the feature, or an engineered build where the elevation faces the weather and stability matters most.
Glazed, unglazed and stable styles
Read the product title carefully, because it is precise. A glazed door, such as an oak door with glass, arrives with the glass fitted, while an unglazed door arrives ready for glass so your fitter can supply and fit it to your own specification. For the designs with more glass, our glazed external doors bring the fully and half-glazed options together.
For a rear or kitchen entrance, a stable door lets the top open on its own, with the tops and bases sold separately so you can mix them; and for garden or patio access, our French and patio doors open a room to the outside with light and a clear view.

Frames, fitting and hardware
Every external oak door needs a porch or a canopy over it; oak is durable but it is not made to sit unprotected in driving rain, and fitting a door somewhere other than we recommend, or failing to treat it correctly, will void the warranty. A door on its own is not a finished doorway, so hang it in a frame with the cill included from our external door frames, and add weather-rated handles, hinges and a lock from our external door hardware.
