Oak Doors for the Widest 33 Inch Openings
At 838mm, or 33 inches, this is the widest of the standard internal door widths, a step up from the common 762mm (30 inch) leaf and the wider 813mm (32 inch) size. It suits larger rooms, main hallways and grander openings, where a standard door can look a little narrow and a broader leaf reads as generous and well proportioned. It sits at the top of our range of popular door sizes, and these doors come in the standard 1981mm (78 inch) height. Because it gives the most generous clear opening of the standard sizes, it is also the width most often chosen where easier access matters.
Larger Rooms and Easier Access
A broader leaf changes how a doorway feels and works. In a large room or a main through-route it keeps the proportions right, and because the clear opening you actually pass through is wider once the frame is allowed for, it makes moving furniture and everyday movement easier. If your openings are narrower, the range steps down to the standard 30 inch (762mm) door and the wider-than-standard 32 inch (813mm) door, and for an opening wider than a standard leaf, or an odd size, a made-to-measure door can be built to fit. - Measure the structural opening, not the old door, as a 33 inch leaf needs a wider frame and reveal than a standard door.

- Decide on construction, solid oak throughout or an oak veneer over an engineered core.

Styles and Construction to Choose From
Most of the main styles are made in this width, so choosing the widest size does not limit the design you can have. You will find panelled oak doors and traditional period designs, cottage and ledged styles, shaker looks, and glazed oak doors that borrow light between rooms, in both solid oak and oak veneer. Solid oak doors are oak throughout and can be trimmed and refinished over the years, while oak veneer doors face an engineered core that helps a broader leaf stay stable and flat. Where building regulations call for one, certified FD30 fire doors are made in this width too, always as an oak veneer over a fire-resisting core rather than solid oak, as the core is what carries the certification.
Finishing and Hardware
Unfinished oak doors are ready to seal once they are hung, and the finish you choose makes a real difference to how the oak wears. We recommend a hardwax oil such as Treatex, which protects the wood while keeping the grain visible and is easy to refresh in years to come, rather than a stain, varnish or lacquer.
