Coventry Prefinished Oak Glazed FD30 Fire Door

The Coventry Glazed is a four panel shaker oak fire door with its panels glazed in clear fire-rated glass, opening up a bright, modern face that carries light between rooms. It is one of our oak shaker doors, prefinished and ready to hang, giving 30 minutes of certified fire resistance as an FD30 door.

Like every genuine fire door, the Coventry is not solid oak. It is built around a solid, fire-resisting core, faced with an oak veneer and edged with oak lippings, so the core delivers the fire performance while the oak face brings the natural grain and warmth of an oak door. Because the face is a natural veneer no two doors look exactly alike, and it carries the same oak tone through to matching oak skirting and architrave.

The Coventry is rated FD30, giving up to 30 minutes of fire resistance, and carries third-party certification under the BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme. The panels are fitted with clear, certified fire-rated glass that holds the line against fire and smoke just as the door does, factory-fitted into a tested aperture and not to be altered on site. A fire door only performs to its rating as part of a complete, fitted set, so use a suitable fire-rated frame or lining, the correct fire-rated hinges, and intumescent strips and smoke seals around the leaf.

It hangs on three hinges as a minimum and takes a lever handle. Use fire-rated hinges and hardware suited to a fire door, which you can match from our door handles and hardware. Around 15mm can be taken off each edge for a clean fit, and any edge you trim should be resealed as it exposes bare oak.

Being prefinished, the faces arrive sealed and ready to hang, so the main surfaces need no oiling. Cutting in the hinges, latch and handle exposes bare oak at the mortices, and those cut-outs must be sealed as you fit, keeping oil off the glass. A suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex is all it needs; our door treatments cover what to use, and the maintenance guide explains keeping it topped up.

Please note that this product is prefinished. When installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. What finish would you recommend on this door?

The faces arrive sealed, so the main surfaces need no oiling. Where you cut in the hinges, latch or handle, seal those freshly exposed edges with a compatible hardwax oil, keeping it off the glass. Most paints, stains and standard varnishes are unsuitable and can void the warranty.

Is this door fire-rated?

Yes. It is rated FD30 for up to 30 minutes of fire resistance and is BM TRADA Q-Mark certified, with fire-rated glass in the vision panels. It only performs to that rating as part of a complete fitted set, so use a fire-rated frame or lining, fire-rated hinges and intumescent strips and smoke seals.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
