Bevelled glass has its edges ground to an angle, so the border of each pane catches the light while the middle stays clear. On an oak door it reads as detail rather than decoration: the glass does something plain glazing does not, without printing a pattern across it.
Overview to Bevelled Glazed Oak Doors
- Thirteen of the fourteen designs here carry bevelled panes; the Belize Offset carries plain clear glass.
- Every door here lists safety glass under Glazing Style.
- You can still see through bevelled glass. The angle sits at the edges of the pane, not across it.
- The doors are oak faced, in unfinished and prefinished versions.
- All are internal doors.
Where bevelled glass earns its place
A hallway or landing that borrows its light from other rooms gains the most: the bevels catch and scatter what light there is. In period homes a bevelled pane reads as original detail rather than replacement glazing. And because the centre of each pane stays clear, the door still connects the two rooms it separates.
The Designs
The Bury Victorian four panel puts bevelled panes into the classic period layout. The Reims pair covers double openings, and the London brings the French glazed style to a single doorway. The Kensington sets six bevelled clear lights above a diamond-cut veneer lower panel, and the Louis sets six bevelled clear panes into a raised-moulding face. The Mexicana Ely and the Mexicano 6L bring bevelled glass to grooved faces, the Belize 4 Light pairs a bevelled four-light top with five vertical panels below, and the Amsterdam sets bevelled glass into a Georgian-inspired three panel layout.
Bevelled or clear?
Clear glazing is the plainer choice and suits rooms that want an uninterrupted view. If that is the look, our glazed oak internal doors cover the wider glazed range. For privacy with light, frosted glazed oak internal doors blur the view entirely; bevelled sits between the two, decorative but still transparent.
Complete the Door
Handles and knobs cover the furniture, and the full range of styles and constructions is in oak internal doors.
