Description

External Prefinished 1930's Unglazed Solid Oak Door

This External Prefinished 1930's Solid Oak Door is a traditional 1930’s design with a large single top panel covering the top third of the door, while having 3 long vertical panels at the bottom covering the remaining 2 thirds of the height. Perfect for homes built between the 1920s and 1940’s this door will match the internal doors of the period.

Each door is made from hand-selected prime-grade European solid oak to ensure that not only is the oak free of defects, but also to give the best appearance in grain and colour. Each door is built to order by skilled professionals in a UK-based factory, with the selection of oak; each of these doors are truly unique in grain patterns. While the design and style of this door dates back almost 100 years ago they are manufactured using the most updated adhesives and tooling.

Part of the classic construction is the use of twin 16mm hardwood dowel joints when putting this door together. While these may be some of the oldest ways of making doors, they’re also one of the strongest, ensuring the door will last for years to come, given the correct maintenance. If you're looking for an unglazed version of this door, you can find it Here.

This door is made to a thickness of 44mm and is available in 4 standard sizes, and comes complete with a weather bar. If you are looking for a non-standard size, then please contact us as they can be ordered in bespoke sizes, which our sales team will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Our range of external doors are made from solid oak; however, we do not recommend usage in exposed areas i.e. direct rain or hot sun. Therefore, we recommend use in sheltered areas with a porch or canopy.

Please follow these treatment and maintenance instructions to preserve the beauty and strength of the wood.

This door comes prefinished and ready to hang. Though we recommend treating your new external door every 6 months with a respected oil or wax to keep it protected with an extra layer of protection. We recommend the Impranol range for External doors.

We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements". Sold separately as not everyone will need one...ie if your door is situated within an enclosed porch. Click Here For Oak Weatherbars.

Our external doors must be treated before being hung, retreated every six months and kept dry at all times through the use of a canopy or similar. For full guidelines, please visit our External Door Protection Page.

We’re proud that our doors are made from 100% oak. Due to the complexity of manufacturing doors suitable for external use, some may include a real oak veneer in certain areas of the design to help prevent water ingress. Much like any natural material, timber can move and change shape due to environmental conditions. In the case of timber doors, these movements may need to be adjusted as part of a normal maintenance cycle. This is especially true during the 'settling in' period as the door adjusts to its environment, but it can happen at any stage in the door's life. Thankfully, this adjustment process is completely normal and should not imply a fault in the manufacturing process. Regular check-ups and minor adjustments are an important part of keeping your door working perfectly for many years to come!

Important Information

Please note that all of our solid oak products (unless otherwise stated) are initially unfinished. If you choose to have your solid oak product prefinished, when installing door fittings and/or trimming the door size, be sure to treat newly exposed surfaces with a Hardwax oil to reseal those areas. The doors displayed on our website vary in appearance due to the different finishes being used by ourselves and customers alike; in addition to the natural qualities of the wood, this will also contribute to the door’s appearance. All hinges, handles, levers, and door accessories are for illustration purposes only and sold separately. We cannot guarantee an exact match to images used across our door product imagery for the reasons stated above.
