Solid Oak External Stable 4 Panel Top - to make 78x33 door

Have you been looking for solid oak stable doors but not been able to find them? Finally, we have brought to market a high-quality quality stable door system.

Made from solid oak, the doors are supplied unfinished so that you can apply the finishing touches yourself and match the beautiful character grade wood with other finishes in your home.

The solid oak external stable 4-panel top is manufactured using the strongest mortise and tenon joints for maximum stability. Made from solid oak and 44mm thick, this beautiful stable top is durable and will last for many years.

The beauty of the large panels is designed to bring in maximum natural daylight, without forfeiting the class and style of a cottage door, and as the door is solid oak 44mm thick, you are able to fit a full 20mm double-glazed unit for energy efficiency. We also supply an Oak Weatherbar to match the door, which will be required should the door be "open to the elements". Sold separately as not everyone will need one...ie, if your door is situated within an enclosed porch. Click here for Oak Weatherbars.

Our range of external doors are made from solid oak; however, we do not recommend usage in exposed areas, i.e., direct rain or hot sun. Therefore, we recommend use in sheltered areas with a porch or canopy.

All our stable doors have a rebate already machined into the frames, making less work on site. As all designs are reversible, you will also be able to open these inwards or outwards, depending on your choice.

Each door is supplied shrink-wrapped and boxed separately. Glazing is not supplied.

The powder coated finish coats a steel core, with the pair weighing in at just over 1.1kg - you can have peace of mind knowing that you’ve chosen high quality handles as your finishing touch for your external door. Measuring 150x115x60mm, the size on these lever handles will sit nicely on the majority of external doors and will be in perfect keeping along with our many matching external oak accessories.

If you are looking for a traditional look to your door handle with a pear shaped grip then the Nevers Black handle is the perfect choice. A beautifully curved scroll design backplate that is typical of Victorian styling compliments the handle. What do you get with it? I hear you ask 2 handles with backplates, spindles and bolt through fixings are supplied in powder coated Matt Black. When placed on our oak external doors the black plates really stand out and look authentic and traditionally styled.

The overall handle length is 120mm long and the back plates measure 240 x 40mm. The 8mm spindle is secured to the handle with a hex grub screw and is suitable for a door thickness of up to 48mm. The handles are unsprung and require locks and latches with a heavy duty spring.

This External Prefinished Suffolk Diamond Solid Oak Door is made from grade A European solid oak, hand-selected to ensure the finest quality coupled with the most pleasing of grains, which all come together to help enhance the natural beauty of this door. The closely joined vertical boards are the key look to this door, with v-grooved boards to distinguish each individual board.

Both sides of the door are the same design except for the exterior facing side, which has a weather bar attached to it underneath, which is supplied with this door. Each one of these doors are manufactured in the UK using traditional twin 16mm hardwood dowel joints put together by skilled craftsmen using modern tools to create a durable, long-lasting door.

This door also includes a diamond-shaped glazing frame that comes complete with all fixings, ready for you to install glass of your choosing, which could be a frosted glazed panel for added privacy, or a more intricate leaded glass to make this door truly unique.

We focus all our efforts on handcrafting products to the highest quality and to the highest standards, that’s why all of our external solid oak doors are made with traditional techniques using solid oak from sustainable forests.

We do not recommend usage in exposed areas, i.e., direct rain or hot sun; therefore, we recommend use in sheltered areas with a porch or canopy. We’re proud that our doors are made from 100% oak. Due to the complexity of manufacturing doors suitable for external use, some may include a real oak veneer in certain areas of the design to help prevent water ingress. Much like any natural material, timber can move and change shape due to environmental conditions. In the case of timber doors, these movements may need to be adjusted as part of a normal maintenance cycle. This is especially true during the 'settling in' period as the door adjusts to its environment, but it can happen at any stage in the door's life. Thankfully, this adjustment process is completely normal and should not imply a fault in the manufacturing process. Regular check-ups and minor adjustments are an important part of keeping your door working perfectly for many years to come!

We are delighted to bring to market a high-quality stable door system. Made from solid oak, the doors are supplied unfinished so that you can apply the finishing touches yourself in your preferred style that will complement your existing finishes.

You can choose your style of top to match this base; we have a range available from traditional cottage tops, through to French and panel styles, allowing you to mix and match throughout the range.

Just ensure that the size of the tops and the bases are for the same size 'finished' door i.e. 78" x 33". This stable door base is a full 44mm thick, meaning that the frame and inside panels are all 44mm. The inside panels are floating, therefore allowing for the wood to expand and contract with different weather conditions and minimising problems associated with solid wood doors.
