Mexicano Oak Bi-Fold Door

The Mexicano Oak Bi-Fold Door brings the slim vertical grooves of the popular Mexicano face to a space-saving folding door for internal openings. It is one of our oak bifold doors, made from two leaves hinged together that fold neatly to one side along a track, opening up a room without the wide swing of a standard hinged door. That makes it a sensible choice for fitted wardrobes, storage cupboards, a utility or pantry, or as a room divider where a swinging leaf would get in the way. It is faced in American white oak veneer over an engineered solid core, so the folding format still carries the natural grain and warmth of a genuine oak face rather than a flat, featureless panel.

Across the leaves run the slim vertical machined grooves that give the Mexicano its clean, contemporary character, and the pattern is set out the full height of each leaf so the look stays consistent as the two leaves fold together. It sits comfortably within our contemporary oak internal doors range, letting you carry the same style through to matching hinged and glazed doors elsewhere in the home. The oak tone also settles neatly against oak skirting and architrave finished to match.

An aluminium track is included, and the quoted 1981mm height takes in the track, so the door drops into a standard opening of that size. It comes in two widths, 686mm and 762mm, each running slightly under the usual 27 and 30 inch sizes because the leaf pivots on a pin as it folds rather than swinging on a butt hinge, and there is a 2mm trimming allowance on each side at 35mm thick. It runs on the supplied folding gear and takes a lever handle, so you can match the ironmongery from our door handles and hardware.

The door is supplied unfinished, which lets you choose the tone, so seal every face and edge, including the top, bottom and the folding edges, before it goes into use. A suitable hardwax oil such as Treatex is all it needs, and any edge you trim should be re-treated as this exposes fresh oak; avoid stain, varnish or paint, as these are unsuitable and can void the warranty. To allow you to spend where it matters, the cheapest available delivery option will automatically be selected at the checkout stage. Don’t forget that orders over £750 will qualify for free shipping!

*We apply a shipping surcharge of £35.00 to certain postcodes for door orders and £25 for timber only orders, which can also add an additional 5 working days to the delivery lead time, see our delivery page for more information.

For Standard deliveries, you will receive contact from the courier prior to delivery. For Express deliveries, you will not receive contact from the courier, with the aim to avoid delays in the Express delivery.

If you have chosen additional options for your items such as prefinishing, please allow up to an additional 10 working days for delivery. This will depend on the number of in-house oiling requests and the chosen finish which will affect the number of coats and required drying time.

Generally delivery is a weekday service. Couriers may however operate on weekends during busy periods. As such, we are unable to offer weekend deliveries, but this may be offered by the courier if they call to arrange your delivery date and time. Please note that your delivery will be made to the kerbside. As such, please ensure you can move your order to a secure location.

All delivery times given are based on orders being placed before 12-midday and the lead times are from once your order has been dispatched, not placed.

As unforeseen circumstances can, on the rare occasion, cause delivery issues, we do not recommend booking any tradesmen until your items have been delivered.

Flooring Delivery

Delivery is typically 7-10 days from order date. Your flooring will normally come on a pallet and be shipped using a kerbside delivery. We will call you before delivery to agree a date that suits as someone will need to be available to help offload. Please remember that our solid oak flooring is particularly thick and therefore very heavy. 65m2 will weigh approximately 1 tonne/1000kg.
